1 Kings 20:38-40
Crazy question probably. The Christmas season can be anything but peaceful. Especially if we say yes to every opportunity that comes our way. Parades, parties, events, get togethers and all the traditional activities. Then our parents and in-laws notify us of their expectations as well. December can become a very hectic season.
The reality is that we are always busy doing something. Even if we are at home, sitting around bored. I guess the real question is, what am I busy doing? I hope you will take a look at your calendar and prayerfully ask yourself if you are being a good steward of your time. Most decisions are not between good and evil but between good and the best. Someone shared that Satan doesn’t have to get you to do something bad; he just has to keep you busy.
That is what happened in the story of 1 Kings 20. The prophet tells of a man that was so busy that he failed to accomplish an important task. This man wasn’t bad. He didn’t make a wicked choice. He was just negligent.
Before the holidays come to an end and you notice that you are tired, impatient and a little too much like Mr. Scrooge, decide that you won’t live in regret. Decide now! Put those key dates on your calendar and then say no to everything else. If Christ is at the center of your Christmas and you are actively ministering to others, don’t feel bad about not fulfilling someone’s expectations.
The Choice Family wishes you a Peaceful and Joyful holiday season. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
