“Take Heart”
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Thirty-one teens and five adults spent last week immersed in God’s abundant grace at Liberty University. Pastor Mike Kelsey of McLean Bible Church was our speaker, and the teens loved him. He reminded us of several amazing truths about God and our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 12:1-2 was the scripture that we focused on for the week. Here are a few of the truths that we can stand firmly on:
We can trust God because of the character of God & His ability to keep His promises. If you have the promises of God, then you have everything that you need.
“Let us Run the Race with Endurance.” We learned the Greek word, Agon’. From this word, we get the word agony. Running the race of life will be hard, painful, and it takes strenuous effort. To build endurance, you need a spiritual exercise program.
“Your weaknesses are opportunities to experience God’s Strength.” How does God respond to your suffering? He gave us Jesus. “God’s plans are bigger than our suffering.”
The most powerful thing in the universe is God’s Grace. The grace of God changes the way we see people, ourselves, and the way we see Jesus.
It was so exciting to watch the teens open up to the messages, the worship time, and to each other. To have three of our teens trust Christ as their Savior on the last night of camp, was so exciting. Our teens are thrilled about God and many of them experienced God in some amazing ways.
The theme verse for our youth group is Psalms 24:6 “This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seeks thy face Oh Jacob.” They are seeking Him and they desire to know Him even more. Praise the Lord.
